Hi, I’m Hazel and I’m a Wonky knitter
Hello Hazel its lovely to meet you. You are knitting for Wonky, how did you hear about Wonky?
I heard about Wonky from Yuri’s Mother in law, she had heard that I was a knitter and asked I would be interested in knitting.
And are you knitting hats or scarves for Wonky?
I’m knitting hats.
How long does it take you to knit a hat?
Mmmmmmm probably a couple of evenings.
That’s very good. So have you been knitting all your life?
I learned to knit as a child, at school and my mother taught me to knit as well.
Very good. So, tell us a little about yourself Hazel?
I’m married to Sam and we have two children and four grandchildren. I don’t see two of my grandchildren very often because they live in Nigeria as my daughter is a missionary there.
So, you don’t have to knit anything for your children in Nigeria then. Do you knit anything for your grandchildren here?
Yep, I knit for them quite often, sometimes knit jumpers and most recently Ive just finished a hat for my granddaughter.
Will we explain what a jumper is? The Americans call jumpers something completely different to what we do, isn’t that right?
Yes, it’s actually a sweater.
You were talking about your daughter being a missionary in Nigeria, that obviously means that you are very interested in charitable work. Has that inspired you to knit for Wonky or why do you enjoy knitting for Wonky?
I feel that I’m able to use my skills to help others that are less fortunate than ourselves.
That’s lovely Hazel, thank you very much. It's been lovely to meet you.
